Ella.ai ("Ella," "we," "us") is operated by Hankified LLC, New York. Ella is an AI companion for clarity, reflection, building momentum, and self-discovery. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using Ella.ai, you agree to this policy.

We collect:

• Account information (email, name) via Clerk authentication
• Chat messages, mode selections, and conversation metadata
• Brain data: memories, check-ins, goals, and usage patterns you create in the product
• Subscription and billing data processed by Stripe (we do not store full card numbers)
• Device, browser, IP address, and performance/error logs

We use your information to:

• Provide and operate chat, Brain, Tools, and Insights
• Enforce plan limits (e.g., daily message caps on Free Forever)
• Process payments and manage subscriptions
• Improve reliability, security, and product experience
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. Conversations sent to third-party AI providers are processed under their commercial API terms; we do not use your content to train public foundation models.

Plan limits affect how Ella remembers and how many messages you can send per day (UTC midnight reset):

• Free Forever: 7 messages/day; Brain is session-only (no cross-session memory)
• Wake Up Call: 100 messages/day; Brain retains roughly 30 days of context
• Deep Dive: unlimited messages; full Brain history

Downgrading a plan limits access to stored history; data may remain until you delete your account or request deletion. Export is available on Wake Up Call and Deep Dive via Settings → Account data.

We protect data with industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest on our infrastructure. No method is 100% secure; use a strong password and sign out on shared devices.

We work with trusted partners and service providers to operate Ella.ai — for example, authentication, cloud hosting, database storage, payment processing, AI inference, analytics, and error monitoring. They process data only on our instructions and under contractual safeguards appropriate to the service.

Your chat messages are sent to third-party AI providers to generate responses. We use commercial API terms and do not permit providers to use your content to train public foundation models.

We may change providers as our infrastructure evolves. For a current list of subprocessors (where required by law), email privacy@ella.ai.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data, and to object to certain processing. In the app: Settings → Account data to delete your account or export data (export requires a paid plan). You can also email privacy@ella.ai. We respond within reasonable timeframes required by applicable law.

GDPR/UK GDPR and CCPA: You may request information about categories of data we hold and our service providers. International transfers may occur; we rely on appropriate safeguards where required.

We use essential cookies and local storage for authentication (Clerk), session continuity, and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Ella.ai is for users 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. Contact us if you believe a minor has registered.

We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
